How to Conduct Inclusive Research & Evaluation Through a DEI Lens

With the murder of George Floyd and the inequities to access healthcare during the height of the global health pandemic, the summer of 2020 called for a national reckoning of how Americans experience social injustices due to race/ethnicity and socioeconomic status. More specifically, higher education presidents and K-12 school leaders immediately responded with equity initiatives to ensure such inequalities are not replicated in education systems across the nation.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) continues to be a priority for many educational leaders to ensure education is living up to its promise as the key to unlock opportunities towards socioeconomic mobility – where research and evaluation play key roles in these efforts. Prioritizing research agendas that advance equity for all, including BIPOC and others who have been historically disadvantaged, marginalized, and adversely affected by persistent poverty and inequality is the emerging standard. The problem is that many educational leaders do not know how to conduct research and evaluation from this equity lens. Drawing from the knowledge and experiences of attendees, the instructor will co-create a highly engaging workshop that bridges theory and practice to empower higher education and K-12 leaders with actionable strategies to conduct research and evaluation through a DEI lens.
C13 and HE Fellows should complete the How to Conduct Inclusive Research Pre-Session Survey by Tuesday, January 24th
